Objectives

On completion of this course the participants will be able to: 

  • carry out a site-specific pregnancy risk assessment;
  • demonstrate compliance with current relevant legislation; and
  • identify factors associated with their work activities that have the potential to pose harm to the employee or her unborn child. 
Course content includes:
  • information regarding the legal basis for pregnant employee assessments (Safety Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 – Protection of Pregnant, Post Natal and Breastfeeding Employees and the Maternity Protection Act 2004);
  • the practical process of completing a pregnant employee risk assessment;
  • how identify potential problems that could lead to harm to pregnant employees in your workplace; and
  • provision of advice to both management and employee on steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of injury to pregnant employees in the workplace including HR information regarding pregnancy at work.
Method of training involves:
  • Power-point presentation;
  •  videos;
  • discussions; and
  • practical demonstration (role-play and carrying out pregnancy risk assessments relevant to your workplace)
Certification

Certification of attendance is provided on completion of the workshop.

If you are unable to attend, in order to secure a refund, you must notify us at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise course fees will not be refunded but we may, at our discretion, be able to offer you a place on an alternative date.
