Project Description


On completion of this course the participants will be able to:

  • carry out a site-specific manual handling risk assessment;
  • demonstrate the correct steps of safe manual handling;
  • demonstrate specific manual handling tasks competently in accordance with legislative standards; and
  • identify ergonomic factors associated with their work activities.
 Course content includes
  • Legislation (SHWW Act 2005, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Part 2, Chapter 4);
  • Structure of the spine;
  • Specific hazards relevant to the workplace;
  • Manual handling risk assessment;
  • Fitness and flexibility requirements;
    • Bio–mechanics
    • Ergonomics: Practical application to workplace environment
    • Principles of safe moving and handling;
    • Practical
Method of training involves
  • Power-point presentation;
  • Videos;
  • Discussions;
  • Practical demonstration and carrying out risk assessments relevant to your workplace; and

If you are unable to attend, in order to secure a refund, you must notify us at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise course fees will not be refunded but we may, at our discretion, be able to offer you a place on an alternative date.
